Chaplin

I wasn't sure about doing a Chaplin illustration as I have already seen so many wonderful drawings of him but this week I watched this movie again so I decided to give it a try...
Charlie and Paulette Goddard in Modern Times (1936).
This little bit is fun to play. I added an effect of old movie to the video :)

"Smile" is a song based on an instrumental theme used in the soundtrack for the 1936 Charlie Chaplin movie Modern Times. Chaplin composed the music, while John Turner and Geoffrey Parsons added the lyrics and title in 1954 (Wikipedia info).

i love silent film! Glad you decided to draw charlie, he looks great. Speaking about silent films thought you might like this epic re-score of Fritz Lang's Metropolis on youtube, well worth a watch...

Hey! Well you have captured the essence, so wonderful the textures, how the flat icons sit on a 3d world, the interplay of the shadows gives us a visual enigma

did that make sense, ?:

I remember the words ot that music. "Smile when your heart is breaking. Smile even though it's aching..."
A lovely video and the effect is perfect.
The illustration is lovely too!

Qué película, y siempre recordaré ese final, los dos mano a mano por aquel camino...

Me encantó tu ilustración, Ana.

That's a very nice tribute.

My favorite Chaplin film is City Lights. Have you seen the American Masters documentary called Unknown Chaplin? It has all the recently discovered rushes in it that were supposed to be destroyed but never were. It's full of rejected scenes showing how Chaplin's creative process worked. It's a miracle to watch.

Su dibujo captura realmente la inocencia y la diversión del tiempos modernos. Bien hecho.
